”I am very excited that we have identified and signed such a special talent,” Arsenal manager Mikel Artetasaid in a club statement. Fabio is a very creative player that will bring high quality and versatility to our attacking play. We welcome Fabio and his family to our club and are looking forward to starting work with him ahead of the new season.”
For Arsenal, the Vieira deal is just the beginning of a busy transfer summer that could also see the arrival of Youri Tielemans(Leicester City) and Gabriel Jesus(Man City). As for Vieira, this summer only Aurélien Tchouameni(from Monacoto Real Madrid), Darwin Núñez(from Benficato Liverpool), and Erling Haaland(from Dortmundto Man City) were more expensive. The 22-year-old managed to become a star for Porto during the second half of the season. A flexible attacking midfielder, Vieira was mostly an off-the-bench player during the first half of the season before finally achieving his breakthrough after the winter.
