Charles Aránguiz will stay at Bayer Leverkusen. The 31-year-old midfielder has signed a new contract that will keep him at the Bundesliga side until 2023.

“We’ve had a lot of good discussions with Charles over recent weeks and his desire to stay absolutely coincides with what we want,” CEO Rudi Völler said in a club statement. “Charles is a really important player for our team.”

Keeping Aranguíz is significant for Leverkusen. The Chilean midfielder has been linked with a move to South America, Turkish clubs, and at one point even Bayern Munich.
