Valencia confirmed in an announcement that further staff and players of their senior squad have been tested positive for the coronavirus. The positive test rate amounts to around 35 per cent of the team. “All cases are asymptomatic and those involved are currently isolated at home, receiving medical assessment and carrying out their scheduled training plan,” a club statement read.
Top leaguesFurther players infected with coronavirusClick here for an overviewThe Champions League participants explained that travelling to Milan last month for their match against Atalanta was the trigger for the high infection rate. “Despite the strict measures adopted by the club after their Champions League game (…) these latest results show the exposure inherent to such matches has caused a positive test rate of around 35%,” Valencia added.

Previously, the club already confirmed six positive cases – among them Ezequiel Garay, José Gayà and Eliaquim Mangala. Further infected players or staff, Valencia did not confirm. The squad of Atalanta is currently in quarantine as well. The LaLiga club asked the public to stay at home and follow all prevention measures against the coronavirus.
